Muslin: I
Done in the beginning of Fall quarter. The calluses on my fingertips were slowly beginning to form as I spent my hours on my futon watching continuous amounts of films, and listening to continuous amounts of books on CD.
I befriended two wonderful Russian girls one summer in Savannah. They would always make fish faces to greet me because my name meant "fish" in their native tongue. One weekend we drove to the Atlanta Aquarium to meet my mom. After our first fish gazing round we took a break in the cafe. They asked my mom her name. Her name is Moira. They both laughed and informed my mom and I that we are a family of fish, because "Moy-rah" is the pronunciation of a certain type of fish in Russia. I like to think that this little story is proof that I am actually a mermaid. With such a proof I am going through the long process of growing out my hair to mermaid length, but until then I'd prefer starfish; they would probably offer the most support.
